How Massage Can Benefit Your Climbing Performance

Better Muscle Recovery

Through stimulation of blood flow and lymph circulation, massage therapy can help speed up the recovery of damaged or overworked/tired muscles post-climbing.

Flexibility

Movement on the wall can be more efficient and fluid when tension has been reduced, this can increase range of motion and flexibility.

Relief From Muscle Tension

Climbers often experience tightness and muscle knots due to repetitive movements and strenuous climbing sessions. Massage helps release built-up tension and promotes muscle relaxation which can reduce the risk of injuries.

Stress Reduction

Climbing can be physically and mentally demanding, leading to stress and anxiety buildup. Regular massages have been shown to trigger the release of endorphins, the body’s natural mood elevators, and reduce cortisol levels, the stress hormone. This calming effect can enhance a climber’s mental focus, confidence, and overall well-being, allowing them to approach their climbs with a clearer and more composed mindset.

A little extra…

Using Arnica Oil (unless you have allergies)

Arnica is used topically for a wide range of conditions, including bruises, sprains, muscle aches, joint pain, inflammation and swelling. When arnica oil is applied, it stimulates circulation, helping the body’s own healing system.

Heated table

A heated table allows the body to totally relax and reset the nervous system. This helps reduce stress and calms the mind for improved focus and a better mindset.

In Siurana

Conveniently located in Siurana village. For groups it can be arranged that I come to your location within a certain distance from Siurana. Let me know your requirements.

How do you prepare for a massage?

A professional massage done in the comfort of your home can offer added benefits. You do not need to drive and you can relax a bit longer in your own space.

There are a few things to consider:
  • Please be ready for your massage on time so that we can setup and ensure a full 60 minutes of massage time.
  • In your home I need a large enough space to setup the massage table and some space for me to walk around it. A quiet area without interruptions.
  • It is recommended to wear comfortable loose fit clothing and have showered prior to a massage.
  • I use a sweet almond oil sometimes rosemary infused, if you have any allergies please let me know ahead of time. I provide all draping, bolsters and towels however it may be handy to have a spare towel available.

In the event of a cancellation, please let me know with as much time as possible so I can give the slot to another person. I accept payment in cash and Bizum

How to decide if you need a massage…

Massage should never cause pain, some sensitivity can be experienced in a deeper tissue massage but at all times communicate with your masseuse for your comfort.

Reasons to get a massage…

  • Increase circulation – reduces edema, muscle soreness and stiffness. Increase of bloodflow for muscle recovery, fitness and overall improved health. Mobilisation of fluids within connective tissue can moderate pain and reduce adhesion within the fascia for improved fascia health and mobility.
  • During massage neurochemical changes make you feel happier and less stressed, long term stress can have physical and emotional damage to the body. Research suggests massage it can lower your heart rate and blood pressure, lessen depression and anxiety and boost your immune system.
  • Busy life and often unconscious posture for work or while driving can create stress and tension within the body. Tension leads to discomfort as the body holds onto these uncomfortable postures. Taking the time for a massage can melt away these tensions and relax the nervous system to restore balance.
